Job Summary – Female Nurse Responsibilities
The Female Nurse will provide healthcare services, emergency medical support, nutrition assistance, and psychological care while working closely with ARCS medical teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Register and monitor children under two years of age, including weight, height, and MUAC measurements.
- Assess and classify children’s nutritional status.
- Provide nutrition counseling and awareness sessions for caregivers.
- Promote appropriate infant and young child feeding practices.
- Refer cases of severe acute malnutrition to doctors for treatment.
- Administer Vitamin A supplements during health campaigns when required.
- Promote the use of iodized salt in communities.
- Perform patient triage based on illness severity.
- Provide first aid and emergency medical assistance.
- Manage shock cases, including IV access and bleeding control.
- Provide wound care and dressing.
- Identify fractures, including neck, spinal, and spinal cord injuries, and provide stabilization.
- Assist doctors with medicine distribution to patients.
- Assess psychosocial conditions of affected individuals.
- Provide individual and group psychological counseling.
- Refer complicated cases to doctors or higher-level health facilities.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Valid nursing certificate approved by the Ministry of Public Health.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in basic health services.
- Previous experience in mental health nursing is preferred.
- Completion of Emergency Nutrition Training Package.
- Knowledge of emergency healthcare and first aid procedures.
- Valid professional exit certificate/license (where required by the medical council).
- Ability to communicate in Afghanistan’s official languages (Pashto and Dari).
- Good communication, teamwork, and patient care skills.

- Emergency Nutrition Package Training
- PHTLS (Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support)
- BLSS (Basic Life Support Skills)
- First Aid and Psychological Counseling Training
